Our Facilities
Aurora Vincent House School is situated in the heart of Horsham, West Sussex. The buildings have undergone extensive renovations and now consist of a single structure with ground and first-floor levels, along with an additional classroom on a second level. The school successfully combines a warm and friendly atmosphere with an organised environment, minimising excessive sensory stimulation. Each room is designed to allow students to self-regulate and express their individuality, offering a selection of tables and chairs that cater to their sensory needs. The facilities are particularly supportive for students who find it challenging to thrive in mainstream settings.
Our facilities include:
Sports and Physical Wellbeing
We provide extensive sports facilities, including a Multi-Use Games Area for netball, tennis, basketball, football, and street hockey. Students also have access to a gym, swimming facilities, and local leisure centres, ensuring a varied and active physical education programme.
Our therapeutic physical activity options include an indoor rower, cycle machine, mindfulness activities, and a dedicated sensory room designed to help students regulate and relax.
Specialist Learning Spaces
We have fully equipped classrooms tailored to specialist subjects, including a Science laboratory (GCSE level), a Food Technology room, and dedicated Art and Horticulture areas. Creative and practical learning is encouraged through cooking sessions, where students help plan and prepare meals tailored to individual dietary needs.
Technology and Digital Learning
Every student is provided with a laptop, and iPads are available for additional support. Our approach to technology ensures that all learners can access digital tools to enhance their studies.
Outdoor & Adventurous Experiences
Students regularly enjoy outdoor trips, including visits to parks and nature reserves, residential stays, and adventurous activities such as go-karting. Our school values hands-on experiences that build confidence and resilience.
Community & Collaboration
We actively encourage community engagement through events with other SEND schools, family days, and after-school clubs, strengthening relationships and teamwork beyond the classroom.
Therapeutic Support
Our on-site therapeutic team includes Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech and Language Therapy (SALT), and Clinical Psychology. Students also benefit from animal-assisted activities, including interaction with our school therapy dog, farm visits, and upcoming equine therapy sessions.
Swimming Commitment
Swimming is a key part of our curriculum, with all students swimming regularly and working towards achieving proficiency by Year 11.
