Your experience with us

At Aurora, we understand that every learner is unique. That’s why we provide tailored support to help each student thrive.

In our mainstream classrooms, students who benefit from additional guidance are supported by a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants. These familiar, trusted professionals offer consistent support throughout the school day, working alongside experienced subject specialists who lead the learning.

For students in our Nurture or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) classes, support is even more personalised. A consistent team — including a class teacher, Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), and TA — creates a stable and nurturing learning environment. Subject specialists co-teach where needed, ensuring expert input without sacrificing consistency.

Beyond the classroom, our supernumerary team offers a wide range of tailored interventions. This includes access to Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Thrive-based emotional support, and targeted academic interventions led by HLTAs. Whether in small groups or one-to-one, each intervention is designed to empower our students to build confidence, skills, and independence.

Uniform

Our uniform is simple, comfortable, and inclusive to support a positive learning environment:

  • Black shoes or trainers

  • Black trousers, joggers, or skirt

  • White t-shirt or shirt

  • Black jumper or sweatshirt

We understand that some students may have sensory sensitivities. If your child has specific sensory needs or requires adjustments to their uniform, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office — we’re here to help.

School meals

We understand that social times can feel different for every student. That’s why we offer flexible lunchtime options to support individual needs:

  • Students can choose to eat with peers or in a quieter space with 1:1 support, depending on what feels right for them.

  • Our Lunch Club offers a unique opportunity for students to prepare their own meals, helping them build independent living skills while engaging in a relaxed, social environment.

Every aspect of our day is designed to meet students where they are — supporting both their wellbeing and independence.
