Aurora Charnwood School

At Aurora Charnwood School, learning is organised through three curriculum pathways designed to meet pupils where they are in their learning journey. Each pathway provides appropriately ambitious opportunities to develop communication, independence, personal development and academic skills, while preparing pupils for adulthood and participation in their communities.

We have a high staff-to-student ratio, and classes are small and personal. We know each student's needs and potential and can use the best strategies to support them as they prepare for adulthood.

Our curriculum combines academic learning with a strong focus on personal development. We emphasise:

  • Hands-on, practical learning and learning through experience
  • Emotional literacy, self-regulation and understanding individual needs
  • Personalised pathways aligned to each pupil’s strengths, interests and aspirations
  • Preparation for adulthood, including communication, independence and decision-making
