Highlights from Aurora Keyes Barn School

This term, pupils at Aurora Keyes Barn School have taken part in a range of engaging learning experiences across the curriculum. From creative arts to hands-on science, pupils have enjoyed exploring new ideas and developing their skills.

Learning through history and art

During the Autumn 1 term, pupils in Class 3 made terracotta bowls, known as a Ding, as part of their studies of Ancient China. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning a range of techniques while working with clay and produced some fantastic bowls featuring the traditional Taotie motif. The finished pieces were something the pupils could be truly proud of.

Investigating forces in science

In Autumn 2, pupils in Class 3 were learning about forces. They particularly enjoyed exploring air resistance through a fun and engaging competition, where they were challenged to use air resistance to their advantage to save an egg from a fall from upstairs. Most pupils designed successful parachute-style creations, rescuing their eggs and earning the class a well-deserved scrambled egg breakfast.

Enrichment at Aurora Keyes Barn

During one of our exciting Enrichment lessons, pupils had the opportunity to express themselves creatively by producing magnificent pieces of abstract artwork. The children created collages of their own faces, resulting in a collection of highly individual and expressive pieces.

These artworks have since been transformed into our very own school art gallery, showcasing the amazing examples created and celebrating the pupils’ creativity and confidence.
