Admissions
Initial enquiry
Once we receive your initial enquiry, our Admissions and School Team will review the information and supporting documentation provided to determine whether your child or young person may be suitable for a placement at the school.
If the initial review indicates that the school may be able to meet your child or young person's needs, we will invite you to attend an Open Day or discuss arranging an individual visit to the school.
What happens next?
To make an informed decision about whether an Aurora placement may be appropriate, we will need to receive a formal consultation from the Local Authority or relevant commissioning body.
As part of the consultation process, and where appropriate, we may arrange an on-site assessment, a visit to your child or young person's current educational setting, and discussions with key professionals involved in their support.
Following a full review of all available information, we will consider whether the school can meet your child or young person's needs and provide a suitable placement. Where appropriate, we will submit a placement funding application to the local authority or relevant commissioning body.
If a placement is agreed, we will work closely with your family, the Local Authority and relevant professionals to develop a personalised transition plan, ensuring a smooth and successful start within the Aurora community.
Please note: If you are embarking on, or are already involved in, mediation or a SEND Tribunal appeal with your Local Authority or relevant commissioning body, the admissions process may vary. Our Admissions Team can provide advice on how the process works in these situations and answer any questions you may have. Please get in touch for further information.
