Aurora Foxes win two awards at Prestigious Bristol Bath & Somerset Tourism Awards

On Thursday 30th November, Aurora Foxes, a specialist college and training hotel in Minehead for young adults with learning disabilities, came away from the Bristol Bath & Somerset Tourism Awards with two awards.

The first award was Unsung Hero, given to Zoe Furse, Lead Front of House Tutor.

Organisers said of her: “Our winner ensures a quality guest experience whilst teaching hospitality skills to young adults with learning difficulties. They recently organised and led a hugely successful takeover day pairing students with staff from Hilton hotels around the country to support them in delivering a fantastic event to showcase their progress and skills.

“Our Hero is held in incredibly high regard throughout their hotel. Their ability to manage and lead a successful service whilst teaching young adults with SEND is nothing short of remarkable.”

Aurora Foxes also won The Future of Hospitality – a new special award category this year.

Mark Costello, Principal, said: “I’m so proud of everyone. Zoe is a huge asset to our team and thoroughly deserves her award, and getting The Future of Hospitality special award was the icing on the cake for us from a fabulous night.”

David Bates, Admission and Transition Manager said, ‘This recognition reflects the dedication and hard work of our incredible students and staff who consistently go above and beyond to provide unforgettable experiences for our guests while providing an exceptional education for young people with learning disabilities!’

Awards director, Nell Barrington added: “each year these awards get more and more competitive.  They really do showcase the finest experiences visitors to the county can have and provide a truly inspirational bucket list.  It was a privilege to be able to celebrate with such fantastic businesses.  Congratulations to them all.”

Zoe and Aurora Foxes will now be considered for the South West Tourism Excellence Awards to be presented at Exeter University in March 2024 and possibly invited to represent Bristol Bath and Somerset in the 2024 national Visit England Awards.
