Fantastic Foxes Christmas

Following an incredibly busy term staff, students and their families and friends gathered at The Regal Theatre to celebrate outstanding achievements and successes. During the term students had worked tirelessly serving over 600 guests booked in for Christmas functions at Foxes Hotel – double the number they had welcomed the previous year.

During their personal development week students were able to decide on their own activities through the collective voice of the Student Leadership Team. They enjoyed collecting parcels for the local foodbank and took part in external visitor sessions from the National Careers Service, Samaritans and Police Community Support Officers. They also learned about the political parties and then exercised their right to vote in the recent general election.

Inspirational student awards for this year went to Olivia Edwards age 20 in 3rd place, who has Down syndrome, Alex Edwards (of no relation) age 20 in 2nd place, who has Down syndrome with global development delay and the overall winner was Emily Fox, age 21, who has Down syndrome with global development delay. The awards were followed by a ‘Xmas-tastic Variety Show’, with lots of audience participation!

Emma Spry has been appointed the new Principal of Foxes Academy. Emma has been an important part of the Foxes family for over 16 years, with a focus on education and quality. Bringing this year to a successful close Emma said “I would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who has supported Foxes students in our community. That support is life-changing for young lives. You can see it everywhere you look; in our local shops, through employers offering vital work placements and with the people who enjoy the hospitality at Foxes Hotel. Community participation helps students to live independent lives. We wish everyone a very happy, healthy and successful 2020.”
