Max, 2023 Graduate

Max graduated from Aurora Foxes in the summer of 2023. In August of the same year, he joined Sodexo at HMNB Portsmouth and has been excelling ever since. Max works part-time, dedicating 4 hours a day for 3 days a week. During the initial phase of his employment, he received guidance from a job coach provided by 'Ways into Work', which greatly assisted him in adapting to his new routine. Max's responsibilities encompass various aspects of food preparation, with a particular fondness for cooking omelettes!

What support does Max have with his role?

Max has a job coach from an organisation called Ways Into Work. She has been with him every day since he started his role and is being funded through Access to Work and the social work team. As Max gets settled in and becomes more familiar with the routine, his job coach will step back back to allow for Max to progress without intervention. She will still be on hand if Sodexo need her or Max needs to adapt to any changes in the workplace.

How does Max access work?

Sodexo and Ways into Work have all been very supportive, and currently Max gets a taxi to work - all organised through Access to Work

Is Max living independently?

Max is currently living in an independent annex created for him in the family home. Max's family have recruited a support worker for 9 hours a week to assist Max in becoming more independent.

"Thank you so much for your support in getting the Sodexo job up and running. It means so much to all of us and for Max it means he is actually living his dream! Living independently (sort of) and having a job in the kitchen earning money is all he’s ever dreamt of! Once again, many thanks for all your help and for the support of everyone else at Foxes for helping him become work ready." - Louise, Max's mum
