Our approach to responsible lobbying

At Aurora, we believe that engaging with governments, regulators and policymakers can play a positive role in shaping fair, effective and sustainable public policy. We do this responsibly, transparently and in line with our values as a purpose-driven company and a certified B Corp.

Principles for Public Affairs and Lobbying

• We engage in public policy and lobbying only where we believe it will contribute to a positive impact on society and is consistent with our mission to use business as a force for good.
• We engage across the political spectrum, but we do not affiliate ourselves with any political party.
• We adhere fully to the rules of the UK Electoral Commission, the Register of Consultant Lobbyists, and the Scottish Parliament’s Lobbying Register.
• When we use external advisers or lobbyists, we work with public affairs agencies that are registered and compliant with these requirements and Aurora’s responsible lobbying policy.

Engagement

• We contribute to public policy debates on issues relevant to Aurora and the communities we serve.
• We provide evidence-based contributions to policy discussions.
• Our engagement takes place through direct correspondence, meetings, consultations, and participation in industry groups and collective initiatives.
• We prioritise collaborations that amplify our ability to deliver positive sector change.

Political contributions

Aurora doesn’t make political donations or in-kind political contributions. Any personal political activity by colleagues is not part of Aurora’s policy nor future plans.

Governance and oversight

Responsibility for lobbying and public policy engagement sits with senior management, with oversight from the Aurora Board. We review our approach at least once a year to make sure it remains effective, compliant and aligned with best practice.
