Admissions Process
How can I apply for a placement at an Aurora school or college?
Finding the right school or college for your child is incredibly important.
That’s why we involve your whole family in every step of the admissions process. We work in partnership with you and your Local Authority (LA) to give your child the best possible opportunity to receive the right support at the right time. Something the Government has also pledged to do.
The first step is to complete our referral form or send an email directly to our referrals team at referrals@theauroragroup.co.uk, attaching the latest version of your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). All the information you send to us will be treated as confidential and saved/shared in line with GDPR guidance.
You can also contact us with any questions you have.
Next steps
Once we have received your initial enquiry, we aim to acknowledge receipt within one working day. However, at certain times of the year, due to a high volume of enquiries, this may take a little longer.
We operate an open-door policy and encourage you to speak to us about any concerns or queries you may have. We may also share your child's EHCP with the relevant service.
Visiting our schools and colleges
Visits are usually carried out once we have received and reviewed your child's EHCP. They can be individual or via an Open Day. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a visit by emailing referrals@theauroragroup.co.uk or by completing the enquiries form.
What next?
To be able to proceed further, we'll need an official EHCP consultation from your LA or Intergrated Care Board and to undertake an assessment.
Part of the assessment process may include a Teams call with you or a home visit, so that we can better understand your child's needs, abilities and interests.
We might also, with your permission, contact your child's current school and/or care provider, as well as any other external professionals they are working with, to enable us to get to know your child better.
Following the assessment, if we all agree that one of our schools or colleges is right for your child, we will submit a funding request to your LA or ICB for funding.
If your LA or ICB agree funding, we can begin working with you and your child to develop a personalised programme to ensure a smooth transition into their new Aurora school or college.
