Aurora Boveridge College joins Leading Parent Partnership Award programme

Aurora Boveridge College has joined Aurora Summerfields, Vincent House, Cedars and Hedgeway schools in teaming up with a national award body in order to deliver outstanding parental engagement and relationship-building practices.

The five Aurora education sites are looking to achieve a Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA), which helps develop parental participation in a child’s education and can lead to improved outcomes in all aspects of school life.

Kate Greedy, from LPPA, said there were different reasons educators were looking to achieve an accreditation including to validate or benchmark existing practices, or to identify any opportunities to introduce enhanced processes.

She said: “One of the challenges for specialist schools is that there aren’t always as many organic opportunities to engage with parents as there are at mainstream settings because often, young learners arrive in taxis having travelled some distance.

“The LPPA encourages self-evaluation and reflection plus clear pathways to achieve best practice.”

All five sites began their LPPA journey in the spring and can expect to earn their accreditation by early 2027.

Kate Greedy said: “Boveridge will have the benefit of help with their action plan and accessibility to an advisor who can look at current parent engagement practices at the college and advise on best practice and how to get there.”

In his application to the Innovation Fund, Boveridge Principal Lloyd Richards said the award would work alongside their progress to date.

“The award will help us define clear pathways to further progress our parental engagement."  Lloyd Richards, Boveridge Principal

He said: "The comprehensive framework will help us identify gaps quickly, shape development work incrementally and endorse existing good practice. As a site with extensive and established good practice, it is a health check, a roadmap and commitment to our parents and carers to strive for excellence.”

The accreditation process includes self-evaluation, action planning and independent verification to ensure high standards of parent engagement are embedded across the college.

The award focuses on creating welcoming, inclusive environments where parents feel informed, supported and actively involved throughout their child's education.
