Aurora Wilden View School fundraising goes through the woof!

Pupils at Aurora Wilden View School in Kidderminster have been paid a special visit by the Dogs for Autism charity who thanked them for their mammoth fundraising efforts.

During the past year, the school has raised £1,565 for the charity, which provides autism assistance dogs to autistic people of any age anywhere in the UK.

The visit coincided with the school's Scarecrow Festival, which brings the local community together for a day of autumn fun, featuring creative scarecrow designs, pumpkin decorating, games and plenty of sweet treats.

Wilden View Business Manager Kathryn De Freitas said: “We organise several festivals throughout the year where we raise money for a worthwhile cause. This year we chose Dogs For Autism.

“We hold a scarecrow festival in the autumn where we invite families, friends and the wider community to enjoy games and fun activities; we hold an Easter Festival, which includes an Easter egg hunt and raffle and then we have a Summer Festival based around ‘enterprise’. Each class receives £15 and they have to create an enterprise, such as baking cakes, that will help raise money at the event.

"We’re really proud of the incredible amount the students raised."

“It’s been lots of fun coming together as a community and doing something positive for a charity with whom we share a common goal in supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities.”

Laura McCreadie Fundraising Manager and Volunteer Coordinator at Dogs for Autism, who paid a visit to the school, said: “It’s been an incredible effort by the pupils during the past year and the wonderful amount raised will make a big difference to the charity."

"Dogs for Autism relies on the generosity of supporters, fundraisers and sponsors to help fund the work we do.” Laura McCreadie, Dogs for Autism

Dogs for Autism and the Wilderness Foundation UK were the two charities chosen by Aurora staff last year following the launch of the charity partnership programme Together with Aurora.
