Celebrating student success: GCSE Results at Aurora Beeches School and Boveridge College.

Staff and students at Aurora Beeches School and Aurora Boveridge College are celebrating today after learning their GCSE results matched those in mainstream education.
Of the 33 students from the school and college who sat GCSE exams, 64.8% gained grade 4 and above with 12% achieving the highest possible grades of 7 and above. This compares with 67.1% of GCSEs marked at 4 and above in England and 62.5% in Wales.
The school and college’s Exams Officer, Lee Dales, praised the students for their hard work and dedication, noting that the results were all the more impressive given the challenges they had to overcome.
“A number of our students come to us having had a negative experience of mainstream education that was making it harder for them to achieve."
"Our role is to remove the barriers to learning while building their confidence and trust. This means creating an environment that is flexible to their needs with support in place to grow them both educationally and emotionally.
“To see our students perform so well in a time-pressured, formal and unfamiliar setting where feelings of anxiety are inevitable, is testament to their hard work and to the incredible effort put in by our teaching and support staff. I couldn’t be more proud.
“We’re about preparing our young people for adult life and facilitating their transition into further education, training or employment and these results will help open doors for them as they prepare to take their next steps.”
Last week, Boveridge College also recorded a 100% A-level pass rate with more than 30% of students achieving an A grade. This was in addition to a 100% pass rate for students taking BTec levels 1-3, with 17% achieving a distinction, announced today.
Aurora Beeches School and Aurora Boveridge College in Wimborne, both rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, offer specialist academic and therapeutic provision for young people with autism and social, emotional or mental health needs, in a calm rural setting.
