Stroud MP praises ‘Amazing’ work at Aurora Severnside School

Headteacher Rachel Lynch said she was grateful to Dr Opher for taking the time to discover the work being done at her school to help pupils re-engage with education, build confidence, and thrive both academically and personally.

Dr Opher, a Labour MP since 2024, said: “I’ve had an amazing morning at Aurora Severnside School and want to thank everyone involved: students, support staff and teachers.

“The work that the school is doing is truly inspiring. They provide a very high level of education and care for students with complex needs aged between 11 and 16."

“I loved the individual approach to education and support and got a real sense of purpose and joy from my visit. I'm looking forward to a return visit sometime soon.”

Rated 'Good' by Ofsted, Aurora Severnside School in Berkeley is a specialist independent day school, offering academic and therapeutic provision for students aged 11 to 16 with Autism, social, emotional and mental health needs and additional learning needs.
