Stroud MP praises ‘Amazing’ work at Aurora Severnside School

Stroud MP Dr Simon Opher said he had an "amazing" morning at Aurora Severnside School on Friday (October 10) after enjoying a tour of the school by Aurora CEO Kelvin Donald and headteacher Rachel Lynch.
Headteacher Rachel Lynch said she was grateful to Dr Opher for taking the time to discover the work being done at her school to help pupils re-engage with education, build confidence, and thrive both academically and personally.
Dr Opher, a Labour MP since 2024, said: “I’ve had an amazing morning at Aurora Severnside School and want to thank everyone involved: students, support staff and teachers.
“The work that the school is doing is truly inspiring. They provide a very high level of education and care for students with complex needs aged between 11 and 16."
"We are really lucky to have this sort of provision available in the constituency." Stroud MP, Dr Simon Opher
“I loved the individual approach to education and support and got a real sense of purpose and joy from my visit. I'm looking forward to a return visit sometime soon.”
Accompanying Dr Opher on his visit was The Aurora Group’s CEO Kelvin Donald. He said: “Specialist schools such as Severnside are equipped with highly skilled teaching, support and therapeutic teams that are specifically geared towards helping young people achieve their potential in all aspects of their lives."
“At The Aurora Group, we’re proud of the difference we’re making to the lives of children, young people and adults with SEND.” Kelvin Donald, CEO.
