English Speaking Board
Throughout a student’s learning journey at Aurora Foxes, we work with them on building their communication skills in a variety of contexts and the English Speaking Board (ESB) is an integral part of this. It is also thoroughly enjoyed by our students!
The ESB assessment pathways suit our students as they are embedded into Functional Skills and Employability sessions. Here, through a range of engaging activities, students practise their language skills and oracy in the context of work and life related topics, such as taking part in a mock interview, presentations on their work experience placements and discussing their aspirations.
By developing speaking and listening skills, we aim to stretch the most able, support and increase the confidence of the least confident and realise the potential of all our students by empowering our students to communicate using their preferred method of communication so that they can be as independent as possible e.g. spoken, sign and/or Proloquo2go.
The overall aim is to build confidence in communicating in a social context and this City and Guilds accredited course is an annual assessment, administered and marked by external ESB assessors.
English Speaking Board 70th Anniversary
On the 16th February 2023 a Film crew from the English-Speaking Board visited Aurora Foxes to make a film in celebration of the long-standing relationship we have with them. The film was shown at their 70th celebration event in Belfast on the 15th March 2023 hosted by their CEO Tina Renshaw.
A group of Foxes students joined the event live, and had a fantastic time! See the ESB 70th Anniversary Foxes Video below:
